Acid Chrome Blue K - Introduction
It is rose red when dissolved in water and grayish blue in alkaline solution. It is usually used in conjunction with naphthol green B, referred to as "K-B mixed indicator". Under alkaline conditions, it is blue-green. Naphthol green itself has no color change during use, and only serves to set off the end color. Under alkaline conditions, the reagent complexes with certain metal ions to form a rose-red complex. It is often used as an indicator for EDTA titration of calcium, and also used for the determination of the total amount of calcium and magnesium. The reagent aqueous solution is unstable and is often used in a solid mixture of sodium chloride powder.
